Good Dental Hygiene Tips from Tender Care Dental
Use Fluoride Toothpaste
Fluoride helps to prevent tooth decay! It slows down the breakdown of enamel while increasing its production. Encourage everyone in your family to start using fluoride dental products (toothpaste and mouthwash) – it works well for strengthening children and adult’s teeth.
Brush at the Back
Get into the habit of brushing the back of your mouth first, this may seem obvious but doing it first will ensure that you spend a good amount of time tending to the hard-to-reach parts of your gum. After all molars and pre-molars are more susceptible to cavities and gum disease!
Avoid Over Brushing
Are you brushing more necessary? You could be wearing down your enamel, increasing your chances of having sensitive teeth! Brushing more than twice a day for 4 minutes each time could do more damage to your mouth than good.
Don’t Brush too Hard
People seem to think that brushing your teeth harder is better for a deeper clean. It’s not! Don’t apply too much pressure to your teeth. Maybe even invest in a soft-bristled toothbrush to decrease the risk that you will brush too hard. Also – make sure you’re buying a new toothbrush every 2 or 3 months, depending on the condition of it!
