A dental implant is an artificial tooth analog that is placed in your jaw to hold a replacement crown or bridge.
It may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.
Missing teeth can throw your bite out of alignment, altering your facial shape. They can also make you self-conscious about your smile. If you choose to replace missing teeth, dental implants is now the preferred method of doing it.
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed in the jaw bone. Over a period of several months, the bone surrounding the implant grows, holding it securely in place (osteointegration). Replacement teeth are then attached with a metal connector (abutment) to the implant to fill the gap.
Implants can be used to replace a single tooth, several teeth or even for full mouth rehabilitation.
The process of placing implants takes around 3-9 months. Implants are now the treatment of choice for replacing missing teeth over the traditional dental bridges which sometimes involve cutting down healthy teeth.
Though the initial cost of implants is higher than bridges, the long term benefits far outweigh this initial consideration.

Implants provide a number of benefits geared at restoring the health of your mouth. Some of these benefits include:
Treatment involves several pieces which may be described as having two main parts. One part is a restoration that is custom fabricated to match the shape of a natural tooth crown while the second part is the implant that replaces the function of a natural tooth root.
Once we determine that you are a candidate for the procedure, we will place a thin fixture underneath the gum in the area of the missing tooth. This fixture will fuse/ osseointergrate itself to the jaw within a four-month period.
A temporary crown can be placed over the fixture during this period. After the fusion is complete, the implanted fixture has become a permanent part of your mouth and is ready for a permanent crown to be attached over the gum.
You can then have a porcelain crown custom-designed for you. Once prepared, we will affix the crown over the fixture so that it blends in with your natural teeth.
After the crown is placed, your procedure is complete and your new tooth should look and feel natural, improve your appearance as well as your ability to chew and speak.
